A short digression

Last year, longtermdamage's very own ANTICRACY received a rather unusual request. Basically, he was asked by a friend to play at a stag party. He found the offer interesting, but of course he had to spend quite a few hours sorting out the stuff that 'would fit best' on such an occasion. Needles to say, the party went great, although the music was labelled as 'the weirdest - albeit cool - tunes ever heard at such events' by one of the other workers on duty that same night. Word is that the experience was repeated after awhile - a bachelor party sans the bachelor , that's where things started getting a bit out of control.....

the sound of scallop shells

However, next came a request to take care for the sound design of certain websites, so ANTICRACY, together with some fellow artists decided to create a moniker (KTEIS PRODUCTIONS) for this up-and-coming music-on-demand project..........

www.myspace.com/kteisprod

wardrobe issues

Recently, the KTEIS PROD. team has worked with Italian denim wear gurus INDIGOSCAPE & crew, providing soundscapes for their website and events. So when the folks @ INDIGOSCAPE decided to launch their own denim brand (CARELABEL), KTEISPROD designed tunes and sounds for their site (finely designed by Francesco Brunotti and Marco Bonifazi) and provided the soundtrack to a short movie (produced by Flex_2) which introduces the enigmatic character of Mr. Jean. The track (some kind of groovy electro blues tune) is entitled 'COPPER CRISIS', and features quite a few lines here and there hinting at the recent rise in copper prices. Apparently, the studs in your jeans might be worthier than gold!

www.carelabelbrand.com

webmasters, archers and initiates

A couple of weeks ago I (ASMO) got a call from DAVIDE (ANTICRACY), who wanted to buy a domain for his KP project. I promptly told him that Frater Sagitta (a.k.a Downers Club's KARTE) would take care of that. I also added that KARTE had recently launched the URL-FOR-FOOD campaign - offering a domain seller/web developer a good meal instead of money is one damn great idea! Next thing I knew, the domain was bought, email accounts were set and a temporary 'under construction' warning was uploaded to the site. Marlin and swordfish carpaccio, pasta with anchovy sauce plus some pretty decent Chardonnay must have done the trick. Technically, the site might be ready any day now. This time around, however, I might decide to join the U4F party myself - you see what, I never got a roastbeef-plus-a-1997-amarone-bottle combo throughout the last five years spent running this site! As for KARTE, the guy's also been busy making beer lately, using an ancient recipe with a few extra ingradients that made certain Ancient Archers own brew SO special in the past.

long story short....

So now you know : if you need either a sound designer for your website - or some cool background music for an 'alternative' stag night - just follow the scallop!

PAST NEWSLETTERS

#16 (october 2006)

Now, how's that for a touch of longtermdamage style?

It's kinda hard to organize a decent alternative/idm/breakcore event in Rome these days. But that's ok with us, since we have our private label parties, where our artists play wicked sets in a relaxed atmosphere, with cool videos, nice food, absynth shots, and no one begging for dancefloor stuff.

During one of these parties (late 2004) we were enjoying a nice live act by ANTICRACY. While playing encores, the guy threw in - much to our surprise - an electronic version of 'ABIDAN', one of our favourite JOHN ZORN's songs off his MASADA collection. No samples from the real thing, just the whole song re arranged and played with a drum machine and a couple of virtual instruments. It sounded cool to say the least, and we started considering the idea of releasing such stuff.

It's taken quite some time, but now we're reasonably glad to announce that

FORTRESS TUNES
AN IDM TRIBUTE TO JOHN ZORN'S MASADA

by ANTICRACY

is OUT NOW!

Several copies should be available soon via hydrophonicrecords, while many other record stores are likely going to have 'Fortress Tunes' in stock in a short time. We should add that it is a limited edition vinyl EP as usual, so you folks might want to hurry up and get a copy soon, or wait until some hissy mp3 files leak to the internet - choose ye well..;-)

No doubt this SCENE MISSING release differs a bit from the other episodes of the series -

Of course we'd like to thank JOHN ZORN for his kind permission, as well as for the great music he's been both writing and publishing throughout the years. Those of you who are not familiar with it might want to check out the Tzadik site: lots of great CD's available there, including (in no particular order) stuff by the various MASADA ensembles, THE CRACOW KLEZMER BAND, KOBY ISRAELITE, and many other artists/bands.

Okay, that's it for now. Just wondering, who knows what's next? DREXXELL covering MORRICONE? TEPS whistling OUM KALTHOUM? OKSANA invoking ***** (with the proper banishings of course)?

ASMO - on behalf of that debauched,
bankrupt LTD crew - as usual! ;-)

p.s.

#1 - FRANK GRIMES & THE FLAMING J's fans should NOT despair. The guys promised to get back in the studio soon. They have tons of new material, and some of the new tracks definitely sound great.....

#2 - Remember the good old days when this newsletter used to be updated on a monthly basis, often reporting (apparently) sensless pieces of news (scroll down to jan 2003 for a good istance)? Those days seem to be gone for good, although we admit it took a bit of that savoir-faire of ours to abstain from commenting certain recent news - xtian priests confessing to phoning in fake bomb threats against famous popstars just to quote a few... it was all in the Copybooks! Now, how's that for a touch of longtermdamage style?

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE AT LTDdotNET?

Not that much lately, one might say. VJ KARTE has in fact been busy graduating (congratulations!) and the same goes for TEPS and 'VAZZ. As for ANTICRACY, he's been getting into all sorts of trouble with adult-entertainment club owners and eastern europe mafia chiefs, so it might take quite some time for him to put out new tunes. But we still have someone who's making great music...............................................

REEKS

Reeks is by far one of the most prolific artists in our roster. Not just as far as music is concerned: the guy is in fact developing great skills in the visual art department and has recently been working on at least four different projects:

NO HAY BANDA TRIO

the band also features maestro ALLULLI on sax, and LELE on drums. REEKS plays guitar AND bass simultaneously, the both of them being placed horizontally as they were keyboards. Though this weird technique leaves the guy's fingers bleeding from time to time, the results are definitely worth the pain: you might just check out our download section to listen to one of their early songs. A full length NOHAYBANDA CD will be released next autumn and will also feature a video made by REEKS himself.

INFERNO

Who on earth hasn't heard of them yet? They're playing a bunch of gigs these days, and their latest tune 'will smith' (featured on 'MEMENTO MoRI', a cd compilation which features lots of different bands) is becoming our official 'summer anthem' here at LTD. Their site is updated on a regular basis and you can find info, pics and more. Two videos produced by REEKS himself should be also uploaded there soon.

MrGREEKS

Just add MrG (ALLULLI) to REEKS, and you get MrGREEKS, a talented chill-out duo which mixes live drumming and analog synth leads, electro grooves and saxophone solos. Two of their latest tunes should be featured on a forthcoming STIRPE999 CD Compilation.

FIRE AT WORK

Punk breakcore duo FIRE AT WORK (REEKS and KOMAGAIN) will be putting out an EP later this year. We've been listening to some rough mixes off the record and we're pretty sure the final result will become one of our all-time favourites.........

And yes, the guy's also working on new stuff for his solo project. A videoclip showing what a REEKS liveact looks like should be in fact added to our video section soon........................

LATEST RELEASES

1- HYDROPHONICRECORDS 07 - A034 vs ANTICRACY
(SPLIT RMX EP)

No doubt the guys at HYDROPHONICRECORDS really had a nice
idea.... so, here's the details:

SIDE A - A034 provides a mid tempo tune ('reboot') rich in
weird TV samples and vinyl scratches.
ANTICRACY promptly remixes it by breaking beats and adding
quite a few multilayered rhythm parts.

SIDE B - Then it's ANTICRACY's turn with 'embarrassing evidence',
a fast track endowed with obscure
vocal samples. A034 creates an even faster version,
occasionally flirting with ragga and hardtekno...........

Nice and colorful artwork (by MILLER) completes this release that definitely features
something for 'all tastes'..........

2 - SYNAPSY VINILE 01 - VARIOUS ARTIST EP

Hailing from Rome, weird-electronica label SYNAPSY VINILE has just released its first EP.
It features cool tracks by MARBURG, RANDOM WALKER, CASTLE_01,
FIRE AT WORK, Q_8/0 and Y&S, as well as great artwork
and packaging.
The platter should be available within short at hydrophonic.
In the meantime, you can contact them here.

3 - INFERNO DEBUT CD

It's grind'n'roll time again, folks...........
Remember last year, when one of our fave bands put out their
debut cd filled with
that charming mixture of hard-core metal, grind and
electro-grooves?
That very cd has now been officially released through several indie labels
and it is ready to be shipped and sold worldwide!
Check their site for more info , as well as news concerning the
bands forthcoming shows and more.....

And it seems that loads more stuff spurting out from that hellish
crypt known as HOMBRELOBO STUDIO will be released shortly.
No doubt we'll let you all know........

several elements taken from some recent
ANTICRACY vs DOWNERS CLUB performances,
edited by the DOWNERS themselves.
We'll be able to upload it as soon as we find a decent way
to compress it, the original AVI file being qute heavy
for the average downloader.....

FORTHCOMING SHOWS....(?).....

It seems there might be a few chances for you all to see
ANTICRACY vs DOWNERS CLUB

(IN)FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
(WORTH ANSWERING NEVERTHELESS........)

Q - What in the world happened with that STIRPE999 record
you've recently advertised? I've been searching for it in stores,
but it isn't there yet.......

A - The guys at STIRPE have had some troubles with the
stickering of the records.
Due to multiple incredible reasons, it is taking a lot more
time than we all expected.

Q - What is this 'Terribilarium' you rave about so much
in the 'hidden' pages of the site?

A - It is both a physical place and a, erm, 'psychic condition'
we would say. A small fortress
which plays a central role in that beautiful collection of
(hermetic?) writings called
'The Bulgarian Copybooks'.
'Terribilarium' is in fact the title of the 'third' book, the one
that provides explanations to the whole series.

we are with a coupla new releases filled with
easy grooves and litterally dripping with sunshine, happiness and positive thinking as usual.......

SCENE MISSING 03
ANTICRACY - FIRE AT WORK
'WEIRD SYNCHRONICITIES'

Two years have passed since the 'WORLDWIDE SUICIDE' release
(on Idroscalo Dischi), and here they are again,
paranoid guy ANTICRACY and punk-breakcore duo FIRE AT WORK,
joining their efforts (one side each) on this latest SCENE MISSING release.
While we won't waste time explaining WHY this E.P.
is entitled 'WEIRD SYNCHRONICITIES'
(even though it would be worth spending a few words about it,
at least for those of you with a fetish
for dates, numbers and oddly repeated coincidences........),
we'll just take a quick look at what's on
this record...........................

On side A, ANTICRACY kicks it off with 'a short digression', a fast breakcore track rich in
harsh odd-tempo beats and dark synth loops.
A videoclip of sorts is currently in the works
for this tune
. Then we find 'pseudoharmlessness',
definitely a guitar-oriented tune endowed
with a killer beat. Finally comes 'suvasini',
a slower number with dreamy atmospheres and downtempo breaks...........................

On side B, FIRE AT WORK show us their most violent side with 'O',
eight minutes of distorted, hiphop-esque loops and
hardcore kicks, a great industrial track for DJs to play with when
on the decks...... Next we find 'O', with its tiny electribe acid-bassline developing over some really
f**ked up drum breaks...............

STIRPE999 0.0
VARIOUS ARTISTS
'HARMONY CORRUPTED'

IMPLOSION SIDE: FIRE AT WORK, FADE OUT (Feat. MrGREEKS).

EXPLOSION SIDE: ANTICRACY, THE PRIORY, DAN HEKATE.

We've already talked about this EP's details lately
(check our january newsletter), more information
can be found at the label's own site (www.stirpe999.com),
even though we suppose it might be still
under construction......................................
The real story of STIRPE999 (a mutant bloodline) will be fully
explained and illustrated in a
small booklet to be released later this year.

Q - Nice, but how do i get these records, folks?
A - Usual on-line distributions and record stores should have
these titles in stock within a short time.
Otherwise if you live in Europe, you can e-mail us, and
we can sell it through postal service.
Also, Ben from On-Wheels-Distribution is going to have several
copies to sell in a few days.
You can contact him here.

THE SILENT RISE OF AN INFAMOUS BLOODLINE

Well, no bullshit this month, here's some straight information
about a forthcoming
wordly menace:
STIRPE999. You're hopefully reading this
before it's too late:

WHO
- COMA GAIN (also called 'fire at work's violent half').
He runs the whole Project.
WHAT
- A series of records. We might call it a label.
STIRPE means 'bloodline' in italian.
WHEN
- well, you know how it works with deadlines and stuff....
Hopefully by march 2k4
you will be able to see one of the STIRPE999's 500 firstborn sons spinning on a turntable near you.
WHERE
- On the internet. A website will be launched soon.
A few 'STIRPE' parties (ouch!)
should be also taking place in Rome and elsewhere later this year.........................
WHY
- This project came to life as an unpredicted reaction to unknown circumstances.
Hatred and Criticism are its matrixes.
Synthesis and Efficiency are its strategies.

Feeling confused? Alright, now for the questions...............

Q - so, what's the title of the EP?
A - It is going to be entitled 'HARMONY CORRUPTED'.
Cat.# will be 0.0

Q - How about a tracklist?
A - on side 0 (mostly jazz/trip-hop oriented) we find:

'08.40' (FIRE AT WORK
, these two guys will never stop
surprising us with the
crazy titles they come up with!),
'fade out' (FADE OUT)
.

Then the menu for side 1 is:

'gun shy' (ANTICRACY
, reportedly with a rather
'autobiographical' tune this time),
'Jinny side' (THE PRIORY)
, and
'irredescent subliminal avengers'
by DAN HEKATE.
This second side will of course sound loads more 'electronic'.

Q - Who did the artwork?
A - Quayola (same guy who did the artwork for the
truckstop76 ep)

Q - anything else?
A - Some copies will definitely come with a nice gift: comics
(the story of STIRPE999 of course).

MORE UP NEXT

Q - any other interesting releases on the way?
A - SCENE MISSING has also scheduled its third
subliminal-message-filled release
for the next months, indeed.
It could in fact be a collection of albigensian folk songs
played by
MATHIEU PAOLI and THE FLAMING JERKS, with loads more
'hints' for those with ears to hear....
Check the news for more details soon.

LONGTERMDAMAGE-STYLE MONTHLY NITES

If you are planning a trip to Rome, now you might have
half a reason more to visit this chaotic but beautiful city...
Every last friday of the month FIRE AT WORK, ANTICRACY,
MrGREEKS plus
various guests are playing at BRANCALEONE club, cinema room
(1st floor).
Expect to sit in a comfortable chair, listening to some
really cool (live) music, watching amazing videos
put on by KARTE (DOWNERS CLUB) and resident vj BYRUZ,
sipping some excellent drinks
you might get at the nearby winebar for cheap, and definitely
having a decent time.
Once you get bored with that you can even visit the club's
art gallery filled with nice paintings!
Precise dates and details are usually posted with large advance
in our agenda section.

LIVE REPORT : 11_21_2k3 - PAGAN RITES IN MILAN

(or: celebrating the holy cult of breakcore and the sacred dogma of grind'n'roll)

Alright, we've been told it was a beautiful party, and since
it was filmed, some excerpts
might be uploaded someday for everyone to see (or should
we post every single setlist and report what everyone said-yelled-moaned-barfed and so on?).
Also, it gave birth to an interesting formula : kicking off the event
with a stunning electro-grind
performance by INFERNO, followed by break-core live sets by
ANTICRACY and FIRE AT WORK. It has to be noticed that even though the two musical genres
might seem different, they're not THAT far from each others,
INFERNO being not an 'orthodox' metal-core band, and
ANTICRACY & FIRE AT WORK being rather far from traditional
electronic music........ those in the audience seem to have fully appreciated this weird mixture, and there might be plans for
'pagan rites pt.2' in the future..........

NEW RELEASES

Now, some words about SFORZESCO INCISIONI, the crew/label
that made the whole event possible.
They've recently put out
a beautiful record by NUKE SATORI
(that's A034 and BBS) rich in wicked hard beaks and distorted
loops. The vinyl is available in a 'therion-esque' run of 666 copies,
and it should reach all main record stores within a short time.
More SFORZESCO releases (there will be 23 of them in all)
are of course on the way, no doubt we'll keep you posted.

And while we're speaking of recent releases, we can't but
mention that INFERNO have just put out their 1st full-length
self-titled cd!
While we won't spend too much time telling you how fast this cd is climbing our private charts
here at ltd_dot_net, we'll just provide you all with a few details of significance:
- entirely recorded at (guess?) HOMBRELOBO STUDIO,
this album was produced by VFISIK and REEKS.
- as for the 'special guests', both UNDERTAKERS singer ENRICO and saxophone maestro
MARCELLO ALULLI appear on 'LOWEST COMMON DETONATOR'.
Those interested in buying this killer cd are suggested to
contact the band through their site.

Ozzy Osbourne (!) once said 'you can't kill rock'n'roll'.......
but of course you can grind it, we add!

UP NEXT.....

Not that we know for sure, but a record by a brand new
'friend' label might be coming out
around february 2k4.
Said lable could be called STIRPE 999 and it will probably deal with broken-beat and
'rock' oriented-electronica. Some details leaked out to our agenda section. More news
will follow soon.....

DOWNERS CLUB vs ANTICRACY

PINTA and KARTE (proud members of that infamous
organisation known as 'DOWNERS CLUB')
have recently released a short video (with soundtrack provided
by ANTICRACY).
It sees that morbid, disturbing styile of theirs develop even
further, and it will probably become part of
a short independent film to be released later on.
At the moment, KARTE and ANTICRACY are working on some kind of AUDIO-VIDEO performance
involving live music and projections.
Some of the forthcoming ANTICRACY gigs will in fact feature this particular experiment which will hopefully
help the audience step inside this 'longtermdamaged' world made of obscure landscapes, weird animals,
mysterious beings and f**ked up sounds.
A web-edit version of this stuff will soon be available on this site.

SM DISTRO & INFO

We're glad to reckon that some copies of SM [02] are travelling throughout europe (and worldwide) at the moment.
Some folks e-mailed us asking where they could get that damn piece of black vinyl.
Unfortunately no one here at 'LTD_dot_NET' is taking care for that, but here's three sites with 'all that glitters' in stock:

k-hole (nl)
urbanshadows (fr)
hydrophonic (it)

and a few more should follow within days.........
Others have even noticed that some copies come with a special bag (i.e. an ordinary white paperbag with small 'scenes' sticked to it),
and they asked if there is any particular reason for that.
Well, all we can say to those (lucky?) 'limited edition' copy owners is: search further....there might be some more 'hints' hidden somewhere......
No one, instead, has apparently found any 'surprise bag' yet...... which is nothing but the ordinary pack,
with an extra white label testpressing copy included. Nothing special, since the music is obviously the same....
but the labels could have undergone some kind of 'special treatment' (not to call it a ritual).Once more, search further...........

NEW RELEASES

- hailing from Ostia (Rm), electro-crew TRUCKSTOP are expected to put out their 1st record ('OUT.BRAVE') any day now.
With tracks provided by DEKA, MAX DURANTE, SEVENTYSIX and STEALTHIER, this e.p. is definitely a must have for all you old-school freaks out there!

- The guys from another Ostia-based crew, OVERTHRESHOLD, (whose 1st cd compilation is nearly sold out)
have recently added a download section to their own site. Here you can find an early version of THE PRIORY's 'communiqué',
which was originally composed by SINAPSYA. And a lot more stuff...

- Great news come from IDROSCALO DISCHI too. After more than one year of troubles, delays, wrong deliveries and so on, chapter 3 is finaly ready!
'SURVIVOR' by KRASH KORE ZED is going to bring serious damages to your speakers (or P.A.!) with an unique mix of extreme distortion and killer breaks!
The e.p. features ten noise-core tracks which will really drive everyone nuts. So to speak, not for the faint hearted!
In the meantime, ANNA BOLENA has started working together with concrete music artists (like MARTUX_M), taking care for their tour-booking. More info here.

LIVE VIDS AHEAD

ANTICRACY, FIRE AT WORK and MRGREEKS played a 'break-jazz-core jam session' at the INIT CLUB earlier this year,
warming up the audience before a brilliant BABY ZIZANIE gig.
Their whole performance (30 minutes of hard breaks, synth loops, live drumming and saxophone leads) was filmed,
and we're going to upload some mpegs on this site in a week or two.
These movies were edited by INFERNal bass player DAN on the night of the big italian blackout,
and we can tell you that even more videos are going to be uploaded here and elsewhere on the net...........

LIVE REPORT

june 06/07 - TEMPLARS AND DRUM MACHINES SEEM TO GET ALONG FINE.....
(or: an afternoon in Rennes-Le-Chateau just before a breakcore party in Toulouse)

'sunset on the Pyrenees.....
sit back, relax, take pictures if you want....
but forget about digging holes in the ground anywhere!'

(bulgarian copybooks, 9 + 7)

On their way to Toulouse, where they were going to play a gig , ANTICRACY and FIRE AT WORK
(plus GIORGIO from SIGHT PROBLEM VIDEOCREW) payed a visit to one of the most amazing (and misterious) places in the world: Rennes-Le-Chateau.
No doubt you all know the story of this beautiful village and its church, rich in bizarre ornaments (a holy water stoup supported by a devil,
which forms, together with four angels and two salamanders [!] an alchemical statuary group, and several other strange elements)
made by curé BERENGER SAUNIERE back in the years between 1891 and 1917.
For those who are not familiar with this story, we strongly recomend you to read 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' by Lincoln - Baigent - Leigh.

Here's a small part of the pictures taken by ANTICRACY over there....
unfortunately it was impossible to take pictures inside, because of the no-flashlight policy.....

Then the crew headed for Toulouse, for a party with the lads from LES TROLLS and MISSING LINK/MARTEL-EN-TETE.
The event took place in a rock club just outside Toulouse.
Great music by GVK, FUEL-IN-SEKT, NEVROZ, TROUBLE CLEF, NURGLE, MUTEX, SOUND BENDER
(plus ANTICRACY and F.A.W. of course), it seems everyone's had a great time that night.....

We suggest you to take a look at these sites...

GLITTERIN'
GARBAGE

We've recently received a coupla scene missing 02-related-emails. We take advantage of this space to answer them...

(not so) Frequently Asked Questions
about SM [02]

q - Where was the whole EP 'conceived'?

a - First mastered at HOMBRELOBO, then it was sent somewhere in Germany. Finally pressed @ Mpo (France),
where they did a very good job!
No doubt we're NOT pressing anymore at Phonopress in Milano, probably the WORST pressing plant in Europe.

q - What is that freaky title 'ALL THAT GLITTERS' supposed to mean?
a - Choose yourself:

1 - consider it (half) a warning against deceptions....the record might look (and sound) good, but we're still a bunch of idiots.
2 - we're all devoted Led Zeppelin fans, and it is a quote from the first lines off 'Stairway to Heaven'.
3 - in the beginning it was 'OLD TW*T LICKERS', but we had to find something suitable for everyone.....

4 - all / none of the above.

q - So, was 'Vilini sng 96' (by REEKS) really conceived as a soundtrack?
a - Yes, for a sort of low budget horror movie directed by REEKS himself about seven years ago.
It was about huge killer cockroaches dwelling inside a mixing console. Due to some serious lack of funds, it never came to life.

q - That track by DAN HEKATE is a killer one!.
a - Of course it is! We're hopefully working again with DAN and his crew in the future!

q - Who or what is THE PRIORY?
a - Not that we know for sure, but it could be ANTICRACY and SYNAPSYA joining their efforts... or anyone else for what we care.

q - Where the hell did DREXXELL get that laughter sample we hear throughout 'Stylamin'?
a - Back in the late nineties, he would work FOR a small pharmaceutical firm.
That hysterical laughter (not his own) could have been recorded during some scary tests back then.

q - Why isn't 'outro' by FIRE AT WORK just entitled '2.12'?
a - Well, THERE IS a reason why... But we're not allowed to speak about it for the moment....

'And it's not that ray of sunshine that feels so warm,
it's just the bottom of inferno....'

('Mark Bowen', FAITH NO MORE)

HELL ON THIS EARTH

pix by Karte

Once more, a stunning new act comes out from the infernal
depths of HOMBRELOBO STUDIO.
And this time, it's definitely got very little to do with 'electronic music'...
yet it's one of our favourite bands at the moment, and we feel you OUGHT TO know about them.
We're of course talking about sci-fi grind'n'roll heroes INFERNO.
Just put a mad guitarist (Valerio, PHYISQUE DU ROLE) a great bass player (Daniele, MARYLEBONE),
a drummer that takes no drugs (Demian, FAITHLEAP), a crazed screamer (Giovanni, GUINEA PIG 2)
and someone on the keyboards whose name is REEKS, and you get a great combo, with cool tracks and responsible for really wicked gigs.
Their average show is something that's definitely worth a look. It's short, sharp and abrasive......

(02.22.03)

One of their weirdest shows was the one at ZK (a squatted place near Ostia that used to be some rich folks private disco back in the eighties....).
Quite honestly, we weren't expecting a great performance, since their drummer was in bed with flu
and they were going to play with a drum machine instead of the 'real thing'.
But REEKS had wisely spent the whole afternoon re-recording those drum tracks on his KORG Trinity,
with new sounds and loops, virtually 'remixing' there stuff.
It sounded definitely cool (even though vocals weren't too clear on the PA).
They looked so different from all the other bands, with the guitarist who would walk off stage while playing,
and their singer almost hidden behind the keyboards, though screaming loud into our ears.

More recently, they've played a great gig (full row this time) at SONICA CLUB. Everything was perfect,
and quite fortunately someone's taken care to film them while playing: www.hclive.tk (browse a bit) is where you get a chance
to download an mpeg and see for yourself......
We've been informed that they're currently recording stuff for a debut cd... No doubt we'll let you know...........

SOLVE ET COAGULA

'Then things started looking totally different..... '

(Bulgarian Copybooks, 5 + 6)

We're finally ready to tell you something about the forthcoming SCENE MISSING 02 release.
You can expect 'ALL THAT GLITTERS' to be a various artist EP, with tracks by REEKS, DAN HEKATE, THE PRIORY, DREXXELL and FIRE AT WORK.

'Vilini sng '96' is a 'song' conceived by REEKS around SEVEN YEARS AGO (!)
as a soundtrack for some kind of low budget horror movie. Scary synth loops and killer breaks, we couldn't find a better opening track.
'Acridynamics' is a powerful tune by DAN HEKATE, a name that definitely needs
no further introduction.... distorted broken beats with great groove.
'Communiqué' (anyone who read 'KEY TO THE SACRED PATTERN' by Henry Lincoln will recognize a precise allusion...)
is the title of the track provided by THE PRIORY (?). Probably the fastest number on this EP, it is a tasteful mixture of weird d'n'b and basslines.
Then we have DREXXELL with 'Stylamin', a crazy breakcore structure built upon a laughter sample...
'Outro' is an old and obscure FIRE AT WORK tune with an amazing piano lead, pretty different from anything they've done afterwards...

More news will follow........

'Echoes of innocence,
are my thoughts into dissent...'

('a therapy for pain', FEAR FACTORY)

'It's best to deny both the pain and the cure,
and to stop all the syntheses before starting the Work.'

(Bulgarian Copybooks, 4 + 7)

KURING HEADACHE
An equipe of italian scientists recently claimed that Ketamine can be considered a reliable cure for chronical headaches (cephalosis).
Researches are still going on at the moment, but it has already been shown how strong doses of 'vitamin K' can avoid
(or at least decrease) what is usually referred to as (believe it or not) 'Long-Term Potentiation'(sic), i.e. the 'memory' of pain inside the cells.
Such memory can increase the pain and take it to unbearable levels.
Ketamine simply removes those 'pain data' from the cells. More detailed news on this can be found at
www.medweb.it/corme/2002/4202p14.htm
(warning: no english version.)
A drug that helps people reduce the pain. Safely. Well, great!. But we even find the whole story weird: it all feels a bit like DEJA-VU.
In one of the texts that's influenced us the most (the 'Bulgarian Copybooks'), one of the 'main characters' used to suffer from
major headache attacks (probably as a consequence of physical/psychic tourtures he had been undergoing for years when in jail).
And guess what, he had his own special treatment to avoid them: a secret substance that he would carry in a small jar.
No further details were given, but a big K was painted on the jar...
Now, we have to notice that the Copybooks (or at least Book '4 + 7') were written prior to 1980...
Did the author/s make a precise hint to something that was still unknown to the 'masses'?
We find it definitely suspect.......'my head hurts, have you seen my K-jar?' has been our favourite joke for years,
now we can't but see it under a totally different light.
___
And as far as drugs and medical research are concerned, we've heard that, apparently, even ECSTASY has finally proved useful:
a group of researchers from Manchester found that, despite its high neurotoxicity,
it can be helpful in order to control some of the Parkinsons's disease symptoms.
Now, in the Copybooks, no coloured pills were to be taken by any of the characters in case of tremors,
nor they would carry any 'E-jars' anyway. No mistery this time. But we'll wait and see what happens. And promptly report here on longterMDMAge.net......

SEEN MIXING
We got beautiful plans for this year.....if the Holy Forces of Slow Servers allow, in a few months you all will be able
to enjoy some downloadable videos of our artists playing their stuff.
We should be starting off with DJ BIGHEAD: he's likely going to headline our private 'st. Sulpice day' gathering (january the 17th of course).
His refined work on the decks is probably the best way to celebrate one of the most intriguing misteries of all times...
The entire set and the whole party are going to be filmed, and a web-edit version of this obscure event will be available in our archives in the future.

And then the 'studio sessions'...that's FIRE AT WORK + ANTICRACY caught LIVE at (guess!?) HOMBRELOBO....
plus the DOWNERS CLUB taking care for the background images and stuff like that....
And, of course, loads more tracks by REEKS, SYNAPSIA, LUCA ANTONIOLI, DREXXELL
and several other upcoming 'brokenbeat talents' which we highly recomend.
Moreover, soon we'll be able to tell you something about who will be featured on SCENE MISSING [02]...
Check back soon, and you won't miss a thing..........

'....well, I know it sounds strange,
but it could be the other way,
round in a town where they don't know your name....'

('the wooden song', BUTTHOLE SURFERS)

As we've already pointed out somewhere in the past, the arrival of the 'dark seasons' makes us quite happy and
we haven't missed the chance to spend the recent halloween-samhain festivities (plus a weekend, that's four days in a row!) in our proper way....

[as most of you know, october 31st used to mark the new year, as well as the 'day of the dead' in ancient pagan cultures. SAMHAIN means 'summer's end' in gaelic.]

Things started getting interesting around thursday, when we spent our halloween night at HOMBRELOBO STUDIO,
taking a look at FIRE AT WORK rehearsing . Well, it was worth spending endless minutes trying to park our f*****g car
(our favourite studio is just a few meters away from a club which was sold out that night)!
Their new stuff sounds definitely interesting, as everyone will have the chance to experience at their forthcoming shows.
It is also great to watch them deconstruct their songs, discuss speed, loops and pitches, and add live keyboard chords or vocals....
it's got such a strong 'live vibe 'we find it hard to call their stuff 'computer' music.
A full report of this very special night (which we swear we won't entitle 'AT WORK with FIRE AT WORK')
will be available in the lifestyle/archive section in the future.
For now, let's just say that the duo is currently facing remarkable changes in their style, as their individual 'solo' projects
(REEKS and COMA GAIN) are deeply influencing the 'main band'...there are record releases on the way, too, and in a week or two
we should be able to upload some mp3s in the archive area. They're also preparing something special for a 'special event' later this autumn....
no doubt we'll let you know everything at the right time...........

On friday we joined our DOWNERS CLUB friends for some kind of ritualistict event: our common mates 'VAZZ and TEPS
were back from some long-route trips, and they both wanted to make their personal reports- and here's what they did!
We were all gathered in a darkened room filled up with the aroma of some special herbal essences, and we were shown pictures,
small objects and stuff (and food!) they had brought along with them: TEPS (our site official 'sommelier'), who was back from Morocco,
reported having visited several beautiful towns , and of course he's spent a considerable amount of time in the desert, where he took these pics you see below...
He's even made contact with some really interesting aspects of this country's culture...
Soon(?) he'll be writing something about that in our archives......

On his hand 'VAZZ, who was back from INDIA, (Bombay and Varanasi-area) was still suffering from some jet-lag symptoms,
still he was able to tell/show us something interesting...
Needless to say, part of his 'souvenirs' REALLY helped everyone make it a DOWNERS CLUB NIGHT.

On Saturday we left the capital and headed north-east (umbria, middle italy), to meet our good friend SANCHO. We had a great time there,
his house being totally isolated on the top of a hill and far away from any kind of urban distraction. After massive doses of good wine and food,
we all got quite lazy (except for 'man-of-sports' BIGHEAD who spent most time practicing his favourite VIET-WO DAO moves)
A whole sunday afternoon was spent by SANCHO and BIGHEAD in front of a PC, and by night they had several excellent loops made....
which ANTICRACY (who had been sort of sleeping up till then) is likely going to remix soon.

With these four days of reflection (of the non-sober kind, we must add) over, we feel ready to get through these next cold months:
soon all of this site's sections will be ready, and you'll be able to read
record reviews, gig reports, interviews and articles concerning many different topics. As you may have noticed,
we're not here talking JUST about records and parties...hope you dig our choice.

#3 (OCTOBER 2002)

'...city breathes so softly, everything is sleeping,
i'm at the window, silently watching...'

('room 429', COP SHOOT COP)

We've recently been asked about one of the site's 'not-yet-available' sections, i.e. the DOWNERS CLUB. Definitely not an on-line opiate (or ketamine) store as someone thought (or hoped?), nor a forum for relaxing-substancies anonymous users, the DC section is, much more lawfully, the place where all of this site's 'graphic' side is (and will be) developed.
Everything started back in march 2k2, a few days before the IDROSCALO 'Worldwide Suicide' release, when someone decided to prepare some kind of DOWNLOAD INTERFACE for the launch of the EP. It mainly consisted of an mpeg video showing two dogs (actually made up of broken brooms and sticks) having sex (though many thought it was a rape).
In the end, one of the two (the 'upper' one) hanged itself and died, and the circular repetition of the scene (a worldwide suicide, indeed!) would form a pentacle, whose five points were buttons you could click in order to download the tracks.Whatever the hidden meanings of such a weird 'clip' were , the people who had been involved in this project were decently happy with the final result, and when they had to work again for the SCENE MISSING records and this site's design, they decided they had to find an monicker for the newly formed team - DOWNERS CLUB just sounded good to everyone..............................

As the pix above here might suggest, THE CLUB is currently
at work with some new stuff, and we're expecting 'something cool'
for the future: new techniques and materials
(such as clay or plasticine) are being used, and more people
are getting involved....
They're also shooting a new video, and this time it should deal
with insects and odd creatures that inhabit small spaces and
stuff like that.
Someone is even planning a sort of 'live' DOWNERS CLUB
performance: it is still not clear what this will look like,
but we've been told it could be the CLUB and someone
from the SCENE MISSING entourage playing together,
with a mixture of music and images (yes, definitely
nothing new, but we're sure they'll make up something cool ....).
Trouble is, it will take quite some time to actually
see something new, because most of these people
deal with several other projects (and their jobs of course!):
KARTE and PINTA, just to name a few, have recently produced a
demo for a commercial, together with a team called
LEFT HAND: it shows how a (huge) piece of chocolate can
save you from a painful end (a human sacrifice on the
top of a pyramid!). The whole thing is of course
quite ironic and 'light' (we're talking of something
that should go on the tv screens after all!), though it
shows our friends' obscure touch anyway!
The work, or at least an excerpt from it, will soon
be posted in the CLUB'S GUESTS SECTION.
Such section is, of course, ready to host 'external'
contributions, and any kind of obscure visual art
(pics, mpegs, avi....) coming from anyone on the
same wavelength will be highly appreciated

As for now, the guys of the CLUB keep on spending endless
nights hard at work, slowly but costantly, having just occasional
breaks for the daily KEBAB & FALAFEL supply at the local arab
take-away restaurant (doner club?).

And, yes, they swear their SECTION on this site will be ready
soon, though it has to be noticed that they're responsible for
almost all the backgrounds and images around here,
not to mention their help during our recent HD crisis
(take a look among the past news for more details........).
